This was the sight of a disaster on Christmas Eve, 1913. Seventy-three people, over half of whom were children, suffocated while attempting to escape from a false-fire alarm during a bitter strike that idled 15,000 workers in the Copper Country. This park is dedicated to the memory of those who perished here.
