Centennial Park in Chassell affords easy access to a premiere water and wetlands world. Along with a fishing dock, sand beach, pavilion, playground, and restrooms, there is a ramp for launching and landing. From the bay, paddlers can make their way around the bay, down the Pike River or the Sturgeon River, and can enter the Sturgeon Sloughs and the Keweenaw Waterway, part of the Keweenaw Water Trail. Miles of wetlands afford protected paddling and scenic views. Birding enthusiasts will discover waterfowl, shorebirds, and raptors. Deer, bear, beavers and other wildlife abound. Much of this area is state land and camping is encouraged.Services and shopping are available in newly renovated downtown Chassell.
