The annual Heritage Celebration, this year featuring the culture of the Croatians & Slovenians, takes place August 13-16. The celebration kicks off Wednesday, August 13 with Croatian Circle Dance Lessons at 7 pm at the 5th & Elm Coffee Shop. On Thursday, August 14, there will be a cabbage roll-making class at Sacred Heart Church on Rockland Street at 10 am. The Miss Coppertown Pageant begins at 7 pm on Friday, August 15 at the Calumet Theatre at 340 Sixth Street.

Saturday activities begin at 8 am with a traditional breakfast in Agassiz Park on 4th Street, followed by the Preservation Awards Ceremony at 9 am. The Great Deer Chase Mountain Bike Race starts on Fifth Street at 10 am followed by the Copper Country Heritage Parade and Children's Bike Parade at 10:05 am. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides from 11 am to 3 pm, ethnic music with the Duquesne University Tamburitzen performers from noon to 4 pm, old-fashioned kids games from 1 to 4 pm, The Great Deer Chase Youth Race at 2 pm, the Great Deer Chase awards at 4 pm, and live 'mountain' music with "Uncalled For Old Time String Band" from 5 to 9 pm. Traditional artists and crafters with art demos and vendor sales and food and refreshments vendors will be located in Agassiz Park all day. There will be a traditional horseshoe tournament beginning at 8 am on Saturday along with a Copper Miner's Reunion from 11 am to noon at the Coppertown Mining Museum and the Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsmen's Show takes play Friday through Sunday at the Calumet colosseum on Red Jacket Road.
